The proven bridge expansion joint for effectiveness, economy and reliability.

Established first, delivering excellence always

Thormajoint® is a pioneering multi-stage bridge joint system that accommodates total horizontal bridge movements up to 50mm (+/- 25mm). Developed by Prismo® in 1970, it was the first asphaltic plug joint ever created and has remained a trusted choice in the industry for over 50 years. Thormajoint® blends seamlessly with the road surface, accommodates movement across the entire bridge deck, and acts as a waterproofing system to protect bridge bearings.

It consists of a mixture of single sized aggregate and polymer-modified binder which provides stability and flexibility to accommodate the movement of the joint. We have developed various grades of binder to help meet all climatic conditions from arctic to tropical, that accommodate longitudinal, vertical and transverse movements.
